Picked the car up today from my mechanic's garage. Where it had been overnight.
I tried to start it, but she was dead. No dash lights, no central locking, not even the faintest murmur from the starter.
After a jump start all was OK.
After the short run home; about 20 mins, I checked the battery voltage. I had 13 volts exactly.
So, it begs the question - was the battery actually flat, or is there another strange reason to this?

It is quite strange. It has been absolutely fine, but I don't know if the garage accidentally left a light on overnight.
The high voltage figure after a short drive stumped me.
Also, when I started the car, the rev counter and speedo needles swept round to maximum.
Why would they do that? I have seen that happen on my mum's 306.

It does it when your battery is f*cked. Buy a new one problem solved. Think I got my last one down to only holding charge for about 1 hour after jump start and 20 min + drive.

Not the time of year to be running an unreliable battery. Get Santa to buy you one.
