There is a loud whine and a fair ammount of vibration in my hdi and it seems to be coming from the gearbox. The gear stick wobbles/ shakes. The whine happens when there is pressure on the gearbox .ie. when accelerating or when off throttle and the car is coasting down hills or decelerating however if i press the clutch while driving all the whining stops but as soon as the clutch starts to engage i hear the whine start again. This is why i believe it is the gearbox. Does anyone have any views to what it may be. Thanks. Richard. |

What Gearbox do these have? My 1.6 did this, if it is the same as mine I would get the box rebuilt ASAP. When it fails you lose drive. As captian pugwashsaid it is to do with the diff. ________________________________________ Ex SC-6Now in a Megane R26 |

Just a quick update i have narrowed down another noise to the gearbox which i previously thought was a lower gearbox mount. Something is rattling inside in the gearbox if it is shook while the car is stationery and switched off. it sound like something is broken but still attached to a shaft or something along those lines if that make's any sense to anyone. Any ideas ?? |
