Right have a number of issues with my car at the minuite and was wondering if you guys could offer an explanation!

- Really rough idle just after starting
- After driving for a while when in neutral or with foot on the clutch the engine repeatedly revs fromm 1k to 1900 revs and drops and repeats.
- Engine carries on going after foot is taken off the throttle and then drops off very harshly after a couple seconds.
- Strangely after starting the speedo and rev counter flip around to max then back again.

Thinking it could be a problem with a sensor or a nubmer of sensors. Possibly idle control?

Any idea guys? Help is very much needed and appreciated!

The idling problem sounds like the stepper motor playing up. Mine did exactly the same and a new stepper sorted it but giving it a clean may helpSmile

The speedo issue could be a your battery being on it's last legs.

Hope this helps

A lot of the issues could be down to a bad earth, make sure your connection to the battery is tight and that the leads going from it to the gearbox and chassis are good, if you connect a jump lead from the battery to the engine does it improve things?
Make sure the positive from the battery to the fuse box is good and also from the battery via the starter to the alternator. If the ECU isn't getting enough voltage it will cause all sorts of problems.

had a clean of the icv today and cleaned the electrical contacts (both of which didnt make a blind bit of difference) while there i came across a random plug, doesnt seem to plug into anything but runs in the same loom as the map sensor.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

It's a standard loom for many models so there are plugs not used.

Really sounds like an issue with the ICV, Check it is properly plugged in and spray some wd40 into the contacts... It may be worth getting another from a breakers to rule it out Wink
