just got my 6 back from an engine rebuild after the can belt snapped. ive had all 16 valves replaced but the engine is a bit tappy. the garage that rebuilt it did tell me the lifters were a bit noisy. i am looking to replace all the liftersa now as the engine runs like a dream but that little tap really annoys me. where can i buy new lifters from and any idea how much a set will cost. Is it a peugeot only part or are there others suppliers? ive had a look on the internet and cant find anything. any help apprieciated. thanks nick________________________________________ Wanted list.Coilovers Cams (not too lairy) Strut Brace PM if you have any of these Cheers |

were there any valve guides replaced?you can get them elsewhere, but you have to be very careful which ones you get as there are some very poor ones about. how long has it been driven since the head was put back on? ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

Is it possible they timed up the engine using a pulley that had 'slipped.' If so they may have bent some of those 16 new valves... |

rich306 wrote: is'nt impossible 2 time an engine with a slipped pulley though? mine slipped and it all did';nt line up I don't understand what youre trying to say If you don't pin the crankshaft and check the pulley hasn't slipped before taking the belt off then it's quite possible to time it up incorrectly. Although they may just use tip ex as a few garages do without problems. |

valve guides were all reeplaced. they told me they checked the bottom pulley using the time hole on the flywheel, or something like that. they seemed sure the noise is the lifters. Cheers for the suggestions. any ideas on a price for a full new set from pug??? cheers________________________________________ Wanted list.Coilovers Cams (not too lairy) Strut Brace PM if you have any of these Cheers |

there isn't a timing hole in the flywheel on a petrol XU, only a diesel one.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

Reading up on refitting cams/lifters/head it is possible to bend valves just by turning cams to line up the pulleys As the valves are so big they hit each other if opened in the wrong sequence (Thanks to Welshpug for digging up a thread from 2008 on 205 Drivers ) ________________________________________ Red GTB1756 powered Fabia VRS daily driver,LBSC Gti6 eater........Mac1 ZR R1 kit car build in progress. |
