Is it just me or do other 306 owners experience this?

My drivers side electric window switch works when it wants to and doesn't when its angry with me I think. Now it used to do it once in a while but since yesterday it completely stopped working.

So I popped down to the scrappers today for a new switch, which didn't work either. Leading me to the conclusion that it's either a blown fuse or a wiring issue.

Got back into the car and it starts working again! But its only working with the doors shut.

Help!!

Hmmm would that be the wires on the inside of the door?

best bet is to pick up a door loom, quick and easy to try before you go down any other tangents

Are the door looms different for each model or will any 306 door loom do?

IIRC there are 3 different plugs used that are not compatible with each other, pull one of your off and check the number of pins.

you can get a repair section with a length of wire attached to every pin, you just connect up the relevant ones as a patch into your loom.

Well it's the first of the phase 3's so it doesn't have the one touch automatic drivers window so I think that's the 6 pin one?

Can anyone tell me how to remove the door looms from both sides? doesnt pull out very far and loads of broken wires so either got a lot of soldering to do or new loom. Just be nice to know where it plugs in at the other end etc, have removed fuse box assembly etc and cant see it, looks further up behind the dash maybe?

just peeled the driver side boot back at the plug and can see a thick white wire snapped clean in two, and an earth wire looking fragile so another job for tomorrow whipping door off and soldering to hopefully cure it temporarily LOL

The door switches are also cleverly designed to allow grit to fall down into them. I would clean out the switch first before swapping looms.

Unplug the door loom, undo the two bolts holding the check strap to the door and the 2 bolts on top of the door hinges and lift.

cheers smegal will have a look i was just worried if undo-ing the bolts that hold the strap strap on would have nuts on the other side and would fall into the fuse box bit.

nope pre-threaded so just remove the 4 bolts, 10mm hex head and job is jobbed. refitting the door is just as easy, the pins on the door sit in the holes and it'll rest on there anyway
