Not exactly the right forum I know but I'm sure someone will have the info I need on here. Will Gti6 calipers bolt straight on and work with the standard disks and hoses? Or will I need other parts to make these fit?

Thanks in advance Smile

im pretty sure the calipers are ok, not sure about the discs tho.

my friend paul put 307 hdi calipers on his
205-gti6, and the 307's fit the 306, so it should be ok.

I think you might need to fit the hubs from a 1.9 GTi. Unsure

What disks will it need then, ordinary 1.9 ones or Gti6 disks?

Not my car, it's a friend of a friend's, he said he needed to get his brakes up to scratch for a trackday (first one) and as I have a set of standard calipers going spare it seemed like the ideal solution, probably too much effort/expense I expect. A set of braided lines, decent fluid and some DS2500s should see him through though.

That's the way forward. You can get away with cheap discs on these, but don't scrimp on the pads. Also more often then not, the callipers are past they're best so make sure they are greased up correctly and your mate should see a large difference.

Just serviced the brakes on my standard 1.6 and I was amazed with the improvement in braking effort.

On an otherwise standard car, standard brakes should be up to the job unless you are really serious.

1.6 brakes do seem to work quite well with lines, fluid and pads. That's what I'd go for.

Especially if it has had any lightening - they really just need the standard brakes in good nick and decent pads.

Front lines are same on both
fairly sure he needs 1.9 hubs with 1.9 calipers.
If he does he may as well fit ur gti6 calipers

I know, I don't think he has realised that just yet, however if he finds a complete 1.9 in a scrappy then all the bits he needs for a decent setup are there. Cool

you dont need 1.9 hubs to just use 1.9 calipers, just stick to the 1.6 discs.

go to Miles for brake lines, they're cheaper and higher quality, and local Thumbs up

if its a stock 1.67 it'll be fine on the 1.6 brakes and decent pads, if its a 16v engine it'll be fine on 1.9 brakes, gti6 is overkill, and being a 1.6 they wont fit under the wheels unless they have been changed.

to get gti6 brakes to fit on there cheaply, fit base model hubs, you can keep your 1.6 driveshafts then.

Again you are spouting crap welshpug
cheaper? Nope!
Better quality ? Nope!
I would say the company that supply my hoses and make them for several of the very large brake companies who rebrand them as there own probably make as many lines a week as miles does a year!
So i suggest you keep your wild accusations to your self until you have first hand experiance.

You don't need 1.9 hubs at all (As WP said), Just use Base model hub's with the 1.6 shafts, Easy as and then you can fit most Callipers from the PSA range, Avoid HDi or 307/206 Gti as the pads are silly money.

Also a bonus as you can run the right offset for larger wheels too.

Hose wise you cannot really use std 1.6 or 1.9 lines as on full droop and lock then can bend reducing flow slightly and is a MOT Failure

But I say my lines are the same price for Stainless as Swampy's Zinc plated one's and quality wise I doubt there's anything in it like for like if there is a stainless version.
But it's not something I market as there's no margin in them which at the end of the day and we almost all have overhead's, Rent, Rates to pay if in full time business.

All zinc plated stuff to me is Rubbish as it will corrode like all the other plated parts on car's
