When changing the gearbox oil, am I right in thinking there is a crushable copper washer that needs replacing? Similar to the engine oil one, but a bit bigger?

As when ordering some servicing parts from my local pug earlier and mentioning this, the parts guy didn't seem to think there was?

If there is one, what's it's official name? / part number if known.

There is a copper crush washer on the gearbox drain plug, yes. Yes

I might be mistaken as it was a while ago I changed the g/box oil but I think it's the same size as the sump plug washer. Unsure

Just to let anyone know if they need this particular washer and come across this thread.

The part number listed above is not the correct washer.

It is infact a smaller washer not the one needed.

I found this out today when the washer wouldn't fit over the nut- so the old one had to stay on Dry

*Shock story*

Welshpug provides incorrect information about a PSA car built within the last 20 years or so. LOL

i was told you couldn't buy the washer seperately and it came with the plug. i just bought one last week, part number 222132 but this was for the XSi 5spd box, i doubt they are different across the BE boxes though?

It was really too small - like half the size it needed to be- but not having ever seen one before I didn't notice it wasn't the correct one.

It was the part number you specified I watched the pug parts guy remove the washer from the bag of loads of them, and I checked the label matched the part number above.

That's the washer for the fill / level check plug.

Oddly Peugeot only list the washer and drain plug as a single item for all BE gearboxes despite them being the same size as ones used on other gearboxes.

2221 32 is correct for the BE plug and washer

0164 30 is the washer for the ML5 gearbox
2221 11 is the plug for the ML5 gearbox

The plugs on both gearboxes are M16 x 1.5mm so they are interchangeable and the washer can be used on either.

Alternatively just go to a motor factors and ask for an M16 crushable copper washer. Laugh

Yes, as Rich says 222132 is the correct number for the washer and drain plug. Yes

Beez - You don't need to use a special 'square' type tool for the drain plug, a 21mm socket does just fine. Thumbs up
