Hello I want to know if the camshaft of gti6 can put directly to the engine on 1.8 16v?. Or is it necessary to modify something?
A greeting.

They go in fine but you have to have the pulleys too.

the 1.8 pulleys have a different angle on the camshaft to the 2.0 engines.

you need the 1.8 pulleys AND hubs. both can still be bought new from peugeot for a reasonable price. You need to check whether the pulleys are attached using 1 bolt or 3 bolts. If it's just the 1 bolt (I believe most are this type) then the part numbers you need (courtesy of welshpug a year or so ago) are:

0805 A3 CAMSHAF GEAR 42 DENTS - INJECTION XU10J4RS

0805 82 PINION HUB BE - BLUE- INJECTION XU10J4RS

you need 2 of each. When I did this the Hubs were around

How much improvement does this actually give to the performance?

as far as I know nobody has actually had a before and after Dyno run to gauge how much of a difference it makes, I think Sandy Brown might b able to give a vague figure of estimation as he has run one on throttle bodies in a 309 goodwood, as well as built a 211 bhp race version
