I won't start an argument Figures: 150/155@6500 HP vs 163@6500 HP, 182@3500 Nm vs 196@4100 Nm If the Mi16 in question is the 2 litre, not the 1.9L version ________________________________________ XSi 8V -> S16 |

The power difference I belive is 7bhp on paper between the mi16 and gti6 and the main diifference would be the management depending on what type of mi engine it is.________________________________________ 306 GTI-6205 GTI-6 Project 205 1.6 GTI - RIP 205 1.9 TT - RIP E39 535i - Daily driver *Newest edition* E60 M5 5l v10 - The weekend car |

I used to run an MI16 in a 306 many moons ago, it fits without mechanical modification however you probably want the later engine with the catalytic converter to get the car through emissions come mot time.________________________________________ Previous Peugeot - 2000(w)GTI-6, Me old China, Supercharged with working aircon! |

if you get the loom / ecu / box / engine itself it'll drop right in. if you use the later mi16 (s16) engine, 1995 onwards with the iron block, it has the cat so will have the lambda wiring anyway so i see no reason why it wouldn't plug and play. the only problem, even with the older engine, i'd imagine with the engine is the radiator and pipework rather than the engine/loom itselffor what it's worth i have an s16 (1995) engine in my 306 and it was a "direct fit" - i needed to buy a new rad, pipework etc though the difference between the two mi16 engines are power-wise quite small, they both have their pro's and con's though - and the gti6 is the newer choice really ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

We've done 2 swaps, although those were upgrades. An S16 and a GTi6 engine both into 8V XSIs. Loom + ecu came with the engines, no problem there except for the speedo - needed a new wire. Rad hoses were different for the GTi swap, needed that from the donor along with the rad. ________________________________________ XSi 8V -> S16 |

oh yeah the speedo wire was an issue with mine too, rewired it using an xsi 5spd box, not hard really________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

I don't remember anything difficult when I did mine, the wiring is simple to work out, I think from memory I just had an earth or two, permenant and switched live, fuel pump and rev counter. All your guages use some of the existing loom. Rad hoses can be cut and joined easily enough.I don't remember my MI16 feeling particularly quick in the 306 though, it was an early engine though the later one with more torque would probably feel better. What made me laugh is the front end lifted by about two inches with the lighter engine, I had to use 60mm lowering springs otherwise the headlights were pointing at the moon! ________________________________________ Previous Peugeot - 2000(w)GTI-6, Me old China, Supercharged with working aircon! |

Funny thing is, I dont feel the 162HP performance either, probably because it doesn't come as a shove in the back, but rather builds up over the RPM range. I only have my VTi to compare it with, sort of the same, except that the Honda revs higher and stronger while the Pug feels to have more power in the 2000 - 4500 RPM regime. ________________________________________ XSi 8V -> S16 |
