Hi guys,

You may have noticed my post about changing the lower engine mount and trying to avoid taking out the drive shaft. Well I have decided to do it properly and remove the shaft.

Anyway

Well judging from that it would appear that they have not sold me what I asked for. I will try and exchange it and if they still say that is the stuff ill just get a refund then pick it up from another dealer Smile

As all you guys that have replied must of done a gearbox oil change, then you might be able to help me with this question Wink. What is the best way to make sure the car is level when you are refilling the oil? With the passenger side wheel off I would imagine it might be a bit awkward. Do you just adjust it on the jack?

take the arch liner piece off and leave the car sat on its wheels, remove the level plug and fill up through the breather at the top.

If your careful when removing and replacing the driveshaft without nicking the seal then it can be fine but i have had peugeot dealerships tear brand new ones to pieces. I normally lay under the engine guiding the inner shaft passed the seals while my helper deals with the other half of the shaft - but doing it sole it'd be real easy to bugger the seal.

You'll also have to take into consideration its age, if they are already weaping then this'll finish them off.

I think the bottle has changed slightly now. It's a darker grey with a different label but it's still covered in Peugeot & Citroen badges. Yes

I took the other Total oil back and got the Pug oil Smile. The guy at the counter was convinced that the Total oil was their own and that there was no other for sale. I thought I might get that kind of response, so I made sure I had the part number with me Wink. Even when he did bring the oil out, he told me it was just the same just in different packaging. Which is a bit of a cheek considering the Total oil was 44 quid! Shot himself in the foot really, as I just said I

I'm not sure I'd get the Fuchs one. That's a GL4/5 oil. The GL5 rating is enough to ruin a good LSD... I'm guessing Peugeot gave the gearbox oil a BV oil rating for a reason (bearings etc.).

GSF do sell a Total 75W80 BV oil though, or at least my local one does.

not so much the bearings, but the material the Synchros are made from.
