When at idle the butterfly seems to stick and once past this point it moves freely enough, all seems clean enough inside so are there any other ware points or issues that would cause this?

The throttle cable is free from resistance so it isn't that, I came back the other day after a little blat and it was stuck open a bit revving to 2-3000 rpm.

Any input greatly appreciated.

I'll check it again, when I looked it seemed to be giving resistance as though it was working but after feeling the tension on a throttle body belonging to a friends car his appeared to have more resistance and when it snapped shut there was no sticking point when trying to open it.

I have had this before and never could see what was causing the problem, in the end i changed the throttle body for another. It was weird how it happened, the throttle when closed was a bugger to open and with some force opened but made you look like a very poor driverLOL

If you dont find the problem let me know and i can sort you a replacement.

I had this when I bought an inlet manifold/TB from Sid who had the 2.1 'thing'.

It was the allen key screw that you could adjust on the TB which was too loose/kept adjusting itself. I just needed a brand new one and plenty of lubricant.

Sorted it tonight, as said the screw needed adjusting but not because it had moved, its because when the throttle snaps shut it gradually deforms the plastic that holds the cable and causes the butterfly to close too far and get stuck. Thanks for the info it now feels a different car.
