ive got a gearbox problem i dont know where to start or how to explain this lol. but here goes.

when im driving along when i go into 1st and 2nd it goes halfway and stops and i gotta force it into gear and 3rd makes some sort of grinding noise but 4th 5th and 6th along with reverse is fine.
but when the car is stationary even with the engine running the gearbox feels fine well noway near as bad it goes straight into all the 3 gears.

I'd start by replacing the cable then. It sounds like the self adjuster isn't doing its job. You can adjust them up manually with the aid of an assistant though.

If its not pulling the cable in enough it will be a bas**rd to get in gear. Thats why I asked if the biting point is at the bottom of the pedal travel, this points to the clutch cable needing adjusting. The cable should adjust the slack up itself but they dont always work that well.

Could be worn syncros in first and second gear.

If the clutch is very hard and stiff to operate i would say you need to get this checked over first, i think that will more than likely be your fault.

I'll second the clutch cable as your first point of call.

Replaced mine for an OEM one last weekend, clutch is much lighter and there's no resistance in gear changes now.
