occasionally my gti6 will rev up and down on its own when on stop. does anyone know what it is?

I had a similar thing happen a while back along with stalling issues.

Turned out to be a split in the small pipe that comes off the inlet pipe which connects to the stepper motor.

I replaced the hose (

This is happens to my 6 aswel, seems to be worse when hot, will have to have a look in work tomorrow when its daylight!

had a look at mine today. there was a crack in the pipe leading to the steper motor/idle control valve which i have bonded up for the time being. and also my steper was all cacked up so cleaned with a bit of plus gas and a rag. when i get it finished i will post the results. cheers.

finished off the car today and it runs better than ever. bearing in mind i have just replaced all the valves due to a timing belt tensioner giving up. can recomend doing the above. cowabunga man!

I think cleaning the stepper motor is the job. The crack in the pipe won't make a difference as it's still unmetered there and the flow is controlled by the motor, any air leaks AFTER the tb/stepper would caue a problem
