Thinking of removing my air con from my 6, Is this an easy task or will it cause me problems? Any tips greatfully received

No its not difficult, you would have to get a non aircon aux setup though, after you source one of these search on here, theres plenty of people who have done it; including myself.

Why?.A phase1 with aircon is not that common.1k optional extra may have something to do with itLOL

hmmm... nothing you'll notice i wouldn't of thought, but its less work for the car i suppose. i dont really know when i did it, i think i noticed it slightly but then i think its all in the mind when you do something like this.

if it works i would say keep it although you are knocking weight off if you remove the compressor and everything to do with it. think the compressor weighs 5kg or something like that, so not much. i only removed mine because it seized up and a new compressor was like

This is what i'm thinking, i never use it and it's more work for the engine and weight so i may as well havee it out, When you say aux set up, how do you mean?

can i just hijack this thread and ask if anybody who has removed thier aircon system knows how to seperate the pipe which goes from the compressor along the front and up to the rubber pipe by the top engine mount?
it seems to be some sort of compression fitting?? can i do this myself as i have the pipe already

If the aircon isn't switched on it is barely using anythign anyway because the pump is clutched.

you need the following
*shorter Alternator Belt
*Tension Roller
*Idler
*Tensioner Screw

if you search rallye aux setup, u'll find loads on this subject.

it basically helps miss out the aircon compressor and keeps the alternator and pas working...
