Does anyone have any experience of bolting a 5 sp BE3 box from a 205 staight in to a 306 rallye?

Is it a straight swap, or are there any things i need to know?

use a Xsara VTS box instead if you're after 5 speeds. Otherwise it's not a straight swap, I think you need to use an 405 mi16 clutch.

I was under the impression that you would just have to change the selector fork over and possibly move the mount. Don't see why the clutch would have to be changed. I used a 405 Mi16 box in my 205 and its the same box as the Xsara VTS.

The bellhousing is different, the xsara vts and gti6 has a stronger belhouising with extra bolts holding sump to bellhousing

A 205 box uses a push clutch not a pull clutch hence why people fit an mi16 clutch as it bolts straight on to the 6 flywheel, is bigger than a 205 one and is a push type. It may be possible to swap the clutch fork assy and retain the pull clutch?

Thumbs up to a xsara vts box but why would you want to fit a 5 speed to the rallye?

Because i currently have a 5sp be3 with a quaife 4.8 and tranx on my 205 , I'm looking at various options for next years road rallying . A 306 rallye or another 205 with a GTi 6 engine

Thanks for that , it the std 1.9 gearset , so is good for about 117 flat out .

Are the 1.9 5 sp gears considered stronger that the 6 speed ones?

Think the speedo drive assembly will need swapping over as well if you want an accurate speedo. Both the plastic cog that pulls out of top of diff and the plastic drive pinion in the diff. Thumbs up
