Get a Sachs - Valeo's seem to suffer from the rivets failing on the covers a fair bit Make sure you actually get a Sachs clutch in the box, they are often Valeo in Sachs boxes ________________________________________ Contact Details:rich@lynxpowerengineering.co.uk 07732 822546 |

I wouldn't bother with a 'performance' clutch for a standard engine.Even with a high torque engine I'd stick to one of the proven performance brands. The friction material on the Black Diamond clutch won't be far from the standard material anyway. rich_w wrote: Make sure you actually get a Sachs clutch in the box, they are often Valeo in Sachs boxes I had this recently too. Sachs box with a Valeo clutch inside it. I had no choice but to fit it really as I needed the car back on the road so I'll have to see how it goes Have you found any way of making sure it's a Sachs one? Is there s different part number at all? ________________________________________ Rich |

I went through 3 valeo clutches in less the a year in my old rallye. Not because i was burning through them, but because the springs would snap. Plenty of meat left on the friction plate itself. I know Birk and Carl have had similar issues. The clutch is needing doing ASAP on my new rallye. Will be going for something different me thinks. |

Yeah, I know the feeling. My previous valeo had failed due to the friction plate snapping around one of the springs and dropping it out. The new friction plate was a different design by Valeo though, which had different size springs on it so I thought I may as well give it a go. I'm in touch with Valeo about my old one and they may refund it anyway due to how it's failed so fingers crossed! ________________________________________ Rich |

As jib said ive had problems with a few valeo clutch's, think ive had atleast 2 fail on me with the charged engine in, both been new ones, ive since used the sachs one i had in before i charged the car 3k use with hardly any signs of wear, and its been fine for a good few months now, and it gets hard abuse.Dont think im guna be going with valeo again, but by the time im guna need a new clutch, i will have 400+ ponies and will getting an uprated friction plate. ________________________________________ Dimma + Gt35 turbo =Solid rear beam mounts £130 07889376885 Dan |

note that most issues are with charged engines so really not that much down to the clutch or manufacturer. Valeo make the original equipment clutch its the one i'd go for. |
