hi
shore this info has been said before but !! what are the main differences between the 2.0 mi16 iron block engine and the gti 6 engine , it will be used in a rally car so it does nt matter bout differnces in the inlet / exhaust system , as will be modified ! i think people favour the gti 6 , but looking under a bonnet of a proper 306 maxi it had a mi16 rocker cover so assume it started from a 2.0 mi 16 motor . did xsara kit car have same engine ??

any info greatfully recieved

I believe the Xsara and the ZX used the same Mi16/S16 RFY engine as the 306 Maxi, very late evolutions of the Maxi had the RFS based engine.

The one common part is the Block, the crank is the same as well, though would be quite different to what's found in the Maxi engine, seeing as they rev to 9k+...

Conrods and pistons differ, as does the chamber in the head, being smaller in the gti6 heads with a slightly dished piston.

What kind of spec are you looking for on it? would be nice to see more 306 rally cars out there Smile

yup quite a bit.

standard Mi16 head will do the trick for you at those kind of figures though, just need the right cams and pistons, exhaust manifold +system.

Best bet if you want the S16 engine keep it complete and the same goes for the GTi6 engine, Minor little thing's which are a pain to change,

The GTi6 is much better as it's a Evo from the Mi16 engine's, Lighter valve train and valves for a start and more torque too.

As said the Maxi's used the eailier engine done by Sodemo with a few quid behind them and hense why they did so well compared with our's here, well the less said about that the better.
