Hiya, my Gti-6 has just developed quite a loud knocking noise. The noise goes away when i accelerate and brake and only appears to make the noise when i ease off the accelerator usually going down hills. Could this be a broken engine/ gearbox mount or something more serious?________________________________________ richskeeze |

you checked the top engine mount? do a search, could well be the actual metal under the mount has rusted and cracked, so you would notice it more when you lift of... worth a look ________________________________________ Ex-Black 6 - Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... id say most likely then, just got my new one through the post today and change the lower engine mount and gearbox mount to Group N, more vibrations but pulls better as it was rocking stupidly before when revved ! ________________________________________ Ex-Black 6 - Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... Another test is to go up hill at lowish revs. Will labour the engine. You may even have a crack in the chasis where the top mount sits. |
