Time to pick your brains people!
My HDI (as in sig) keeps getting a flat battery (only recently eg, past week) for some reason...
Nothing i know of left on but wont start or not enough power to start... :S
For instance tuesday morning went to start it to go to work, it tried to turn over but nothing. Told my grandad, he changed the battery but he said the car was draining itself, something like 300 mili amps going out? I came home on lunch, he went to show me and nothing. Nothing draining the battery. I laughed and told him hes seeing things lol. Drove it to work, parked it up for 3hrs, drove it home after work. After another hour drove to my dads, about another hour drove to the chippy and back. Then when i came to go home at about 11:30 bam, turned over but wouldnt start. (Nothing was left on either) Called Greenflag out to start it. They said it was down at 1.4amps (or volts or something lol) then when the car was started the guy said it jumped back up to 14.2. So he said the generator was ok was probably the battery. Found the reciept for the battery and it was purchased 02/01/09, so took it back to be tested where i brought it from. They even tested it twice and it was still fine.
Only thing i have changed was a headlight bulb that wasnt working or didnt seem to be. (I thought it had blown but my grandad has checked it and its ok) Put new bulb in and its working fine. (After i made sure all the wires were correct, which it seems they were)
Have tested to see if the drain is something to do with the lights by unplugging them and the drain is still there.
Interior lights only come on when door is open and they auto turn off when closed (so far as i can see not being left on)
Someone suggested the amp or audio system. Isnt this as have unplugged it all, head unit, cd changer, amp and sub and its still being drained.
Also someone suggested could be corroded pins on the fan loom, unplugged this and the drain is still there.
Its weird tho it seems asif the drain is intermittant(sp)... between 300-500 mili amps.
Checked the GTi6 to see what was a 'normal' drain and that has 20mili amps coming from it when turned off.
Any ideas anyone?
(moved it to the electrical section instead of engine )
