davecrook1 Newbie Location: Bridgnorth Registered: 05 Oct 2007 Posts: 6 Status: Offline	Post #1 got a 99 gti-6... started to get a tapping noise on idle.. not the tappets or a tapper!! defo from the gearbox.. it stops when i push the clutch pedal in... is this my thrust bearing ??? or input bearing and is it going to break on me soon???

Post #4 i had a ratling/tapping noise that i thought was the cat rattling, turned out the pressure plate on the clutch had cracked, didnt take long to burn the clutch out. the release bearing is atached to the clutch pressure plate, so it cant be replaced on its own. ________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.uk Moonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1
