The bleed nipples are snapped off my rears, and air's got in the system when i was adjusting the handbrake, so i need a new caliper asap, the nipple won't drill out of this one easily.

Am I right in assuming the rear calipers on all models of Phase 2 and 3 and the Phase 1 Gti's are the same? The bleed nipples are snapped off my rears, and air's got in the system when i was adjusting the handbrake, so i need a new caliper asap, the nipple won't drill out of this one easily. ________________________________________ Bye bye Sundance Kid![]() |

bump.i'm also interested for this one as my car failed MOT today for offside parking brake inefficiency. i might just buy a new caliper and be done with it rather than stripping the old one down to see what's up with it. |

I am only aware of one caliper being used throughout the 306 range - not 100% certain though. Saxos with disc brakes and Xsaras also share the same caliper.I've got a few spares if you're stuck. ![]() ________________________________________ I'm Si btw![]() Night Blue VW Golf GTD Bianca LBSC Rallye - Track/Road Slag Project Thread Sparkling Silver Mini Cooper D - Super Dooper ![]() |

Took a lot of fiddling about and some gypsy style bleeding from the brake pipe unions. Not recommended unless you have a qualified mechanic father in law do it for you ![]() ________________________________________ Bye bye Sundance Kid![]() |

How did you manage to get air in the system when adjusting the handbrake?I'm not convinced by your bleeding method either... if you're not bleeding at the end of the line then there is always the possibility of air further down... Oh, and for reference there are two models of these calipers; one with 30mm pistons and one with 32mm pistons. The GTi-6 always had the 32mm ones and all phase 2 and 3 cars have the 32mm ones but phase 1 non-GTi-6 cars, the saxo, 106 and 206 (except the GTi 180) had the 30mm ones. (206 GTi 180 has the 32mm ones.) ________________________________________ Rich |
