bit of a dummy question but can i take off my calipers to paint and put them back on without having to bleed the brakes?
apparently bleeding gti's is a pain in the ass because of the abs

no you cant, you must bleed brakes after, wil be more a pain i the arse driving it without bleeding them.

Is it safe to drive without bleeding the brakes? Il only have to drive about 2 miles to work so they can bleed them

depends how much air you get in them, but i wouldnt chance it if i were you.

not safe to drive without bleeding. why dont you just mask everything off and release them from the pads, support them from the springs with some string and spray them in the arch. aslong as you mask everything off it will be fine, and wont need to disconnect the brake hose. then put it back on pads when its touch dry and leave it for a day or so before you go out.

+1 not worth the risk. Bleeding is not that hard I am sure there is an FAQ have a search.
