Just a quick question really.....
Are there differences in cam covers for a GTi-6 or are they all identical?.... I.E PH1, PH2 and PH3?
Cheers

Thats what i thoughtBUT... Look at both these pictures.. Notice that the first picture only has 1 rocker cover bolt next to the filler cap where as the other picture has 1 either side. Was out with another member the other night and he noticed that our cam covers were slightly different.. ________________________________________ EX Bianca 6 owner,Now drives: Octavia vRS |

i also noticed this with my spare engine, there was no bolt in the hole to the left of the oil cap, there is one in the same place on the exhaust cam cover too________________________________________ Clicky: click here remove the space between [url & = |

When my cambelt snapped in 2004 and I joined this forum, I fitted a second hand head and noticed that the cam covers were not interchangeable, My original head had the plasic strip for the original placement of the fuel lines so was probably an old phase 1 engine as the car was built around May 1998. The replacement head must have been from a later phase 2 or phase 3 engine.________________________________________ S Reg Diablo standardsSpec SORNEDR Reg Nile standard spec written off then repaired X Reg Astor in need of TLC R Reg Nile to restore Set of Lions to fit. |

Service Box lists the same part for phase 1, 2, and 3, so I presume a new one with less holes will fit fine but you would have to be careful not to buy a second hand early one for a later engine as there would be nowhere for the bolt to go.________________________________________ S Reg Diablo standardsSpec SORNEDR Reg Nile standard spec written off then repaired X Reg Astor in need of TLC R Reg Nile to restore Set of Lions to fit. |
