My 306 GTI-6 failed the MOT as the nearside front wheel is fouling the gearbox.

The ram on the rack failed about 18 motnhs ago so I got it replaced. I complained about a creaking noise when I got the car back and was told that the rack was on the way out and that is what the noise was. Couldn't afford a new rack so just left it at the time and did not turn hard right :-)

Having read all the steering threads it would seem that the garage has fitted the wrong ram as it is a different one for the GTI. The problem i have now is that every part shop I check only has 1 type of ram for all 306's but different racks for each 306 model...

Can someone please confirm if it is the wrong ram and where I might find the correct one?

Thanks,
CrazyColin.

Is it still rubbing? Or have your tires worn down a little

Go back to the garage and ask them to correct their mistake?
