I went to See Andy from datashift in Southampton. He explained how he makes the ECUs and what work goes into each. Once he had finished confusing my brain with all of the electronic speak, he then showed me a couple of his cars that currently run his predetor ecus. One was a saxo, the other was a MR2 turbo.
He took me out in the MR2 and showed me how it had changed the characteristic's of the car. It had no lag and the performance was out standing, even on the lower power map
At first he is planning to develop the ECU for the S16 engine, with a view to create the GTI6 and Mi16 Aluminum block ecu next
These will not just fit the 306, but any car running the stock ecu, like 205 conversions, etc.
The mappable ECUs plug straight into the existing socket, with no need to have a new loom made up, thus, eliminating some of the cost of the competitors (Emerald, KMS, etc.). The Predator seems to be pretty much future proof, with the ability to map cam, throttle bodies, turbo and the famous superchargers!
Overall I think that these seem a very good and competitive package, allowing you to remap for future mods yourself, is you feel confident. Also, I think that the price will be very surprising considering that it will INCLUDE road mapping
So no more excuse for not upgrading to cams or throttle bodies!
I'm sure Andy himself will be along shortly for anyone with any questions
I will get my car on the rolling road at Janspeed, ready for a comparison graph done once the work will be finished, obviously on the same rollers.
