It was in for a bunch of repairs last week before I bought it, also a full service + MOT and they did not mention any problems with the brakes (other than replacing the rear pads)

I know the brakes aren't great on the '6, but when I brake in mine there is nothing until the pedal is almost at the floor. It'll start to hiss from around the pedal area then grip slightly. Not sure about that. I'll contact the garage on monday and ask. Is that a hard job to do myself if its required? |

I'll have to contact the previous owner to confirm that. He dropped it off at the garage for repairs, service and MOT and I picked it up. |

Also sounds like it could be the servo that's got a split seal? Does it hiss when your foots not on the pedal?________________________________________ Racing driver, fighter pilot, astronaut, compulsive liar. |

It only hisses when the pedal is pressed between 25% and 75%. No braking at all before its ½ way down. |

Had a quick look this morning following up on posts I found about vacuum faults. If I take off the plug from the vacuum pump there is a tiny bit of suction so seems to be working. The hissing noise is coming from around the pedal area but could not determine exactly where due to having a big head in a small space. |

The hissing sounds like the servo unit mate. ________________________________________ Racing driver, fighter pilot, astronaut, compulsive liar. |

After some testing today, it seems you can pump the brakes once or twice and they will pressurise correctly to allow for normal braking. |

Get the system fully checked over by the garage. It sounds to me like either a vacumm fault or the system has air in it, either way not good to be driving around like it. Stan. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |
