my 205 with gti6 engine has recently started playing up, I've done a search and the list of possible culprits seem to be

Lambda Sensor
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
MAP Sensor
Stepper motor (ICV)

however i thought I'd detail my symptoms and see what people reckon

It started on a run out to glossop the other week, when giving it full beans it would occasionally just lose power and revs would drop down to about 2k revs and sit there, taking foot off and on pedal again usually fixed it, but not always instantly.

It's just passed an MOT a week or so ago so I'm assuming the lambda is probably alright as it passed emissions, although tbh fuel economy isn't brilliant as i get about 200 miles to a tank i think but i do have a heavy right foot Smile.

the loss of power has recently disappeared slightly although I'm sure i can still feel it sometimes although it's certainly not as prevalent as when we went on the run out to glossop.

The main problem now is with the revs when coming to a standstill, the revs drop too far down till its about to stall then bounce back up before settling at just less than a 1k. It has stalled on occasion though.

It seems to idle fine its more the coming to a stop it doesn't like.

thoughts?

Had a problem that started out like this then got worse and the car was actually stalling everytime I came to a stop. Took out the ICV, sprayed loads of WD40 into it and gave it a general clean up and not had any problem since. Only takes a few minute so definately worth a try.

quick bump as i'm still experiencing this to an extent.

the car ifells like its hitting the rev limiter at about 3k revs you can have you foot to the floor and the car just sticks at 3k revs. I've fitted a brand new TPS but its not really made any difference.

what to try next?

Did you clean the ICV Winston?

I'd be tempted to start swapping a few of the mentioned sensors for the ones off your other engine. If nothing else it'll rule them out.

yeah i put the icv off other engine and that actually sorted the cutting out and stalling when coming to a stop

but driving it today was like hitting a brick wall putting my foot down. Might try the old MAP sensor then!

The issue when coming to a stop may well be the speed sensor.

I'd hazzard a guess at MAP, but you can test all the snsors, have a look in the FAQ section for the testing sensors article, details all the checks from Autodata Smile
