well just noticed a couple of noises coming from the car.
there is a knocking noise started but i can only seem to get it to happen while turning right an reversing an even then its not always, any ideas?

another noise is a higher pitched clink type noise when ever the drivers side wheel hits a bump of some sort again any help would be appreciated.

ECP probably won't know, that's for sure. They've always given me the wrong effing ball joints.

It says one is for PAS cars and one for manual steering yet they list them both for the GTi-6 which is obviously bo***cks as they all have PAS.

The PAS ones should be correct.

They'll only be riveted if you buy complete wishbones. The balljoints should come with 3 bolts/nuts so you can bolt them to existing wishbones. Yes

The only way to be totally certain is to measure the current ones. Assuming your car is on it's original hubs, Servicebox should tell you which size you need if you enter the VIN number. Thumbs up

Right, looks like you need 18mm then. That one on ECP there doesn't state a diameter, you need to clarify with them what you actually want I think. Yes

From what I gather everything with a build code before 07905 is the 16mm ball joints and everything afterwards are 18mm ball joints.

07905 ~ 1 July 1998

is the 07905 the end of the VIN??

if so mine is before that an would suggest 16mm
i'm gonna have to measure them aint I lol
how would i go about that?

07905 is the first part of the build number on the drive's side suspension turret.

You will have to drop the balljoint pin out of the bottom of the hub a little then either put a vernier caliper on it if you have one or another good tip is to try and slot a 17mm spanner onto it. Obviously if the spanner does fit then it's a 16mm ball joint and if it doesn't it's an 18mm. Wink

would the balljoint being fubbered give a lack of feeling or response when turning?
just for a little while now the handling when turning left has been abit "loose" for lack of a better word
