I know the engine is overfuelling, not only because I know how much fuel is going in but by the state of these 2,000 mile-old NGK plugs -

Today I replaced these, noticed that the oil had gone down about 5mm on the dipstick so topped that up also, then started the engine. I've not heard the engine running up close for a while but have noticed it sounding different at idle...

Diagnosis anyone? Sounds like it's pretty knackered to me, or about to be.
Any ideas how I can fix it, if that's even possible?
