Hello everyone i am undertaking the task of building a 405,it has a 2.0 8v engine from a 605 peugeot i am wondering what mods i can do to get it around or above the performance of a toyota 20v engine. I was thinking about swapping the head for a 16v head but i`m not sure if it will work because i read that the oil and water holes dont line back up, also if this swap works what other parts would be needed to complete it? |

You would be much better off just fitting a complete 16v engine, loom and ecu, a gti6 lump would be the best to go for or an mi16/s16 but these are harder to find in good condition. you would need pistons and rods etc if you were to put a 16v head on an 8v bottom end, also the block on a 16v has oil spray bars which the 8v wont have. Your money would be better spent on a gti6 engine, put some uprated cams in and have a remap which would see around 190+ BHP. |

Ok thanks i taught that the 8v engine would have had some sort of potential in it, unfortunately for me i live in barbados and there arent many if any gti6 cars here that i know of.I will have to look to purchase one from online and not everyone in the uk wants to ship items over the atlantic to barbados. |

People are STILL considering the levin as a bench mark for performance? Jesus... Turbocharger the 8V and use a Garrett GT2871R and you will have roughly 280-290whp on the 1.9 8V. Thats almost double what the 20V makes ________________________________________ INAEngineering.Com |
