Did you see the Topgear where they raced a GTI180 against a 1.9 8v 205, 206 kicked its arse.

Image that in the 205! Big grin

Make sure you keep updated with pictures... Thats an order! Razz

fit an omex or dta ecu etc, they will make you a loom then it will just need mapping, companies like omex may even have a map if you were running bodies but the best bet is fit the engine and aftermarket loom then take it to them to be mapped

Pulled the engine out of the 206 today, dead simple and everything came apart dead easy, joys of working on a 4 year old car.

Just lifted the shell off the engine and subframe:

The steel grey 205 behind the crane is the car the engine's destined for (and my trusty Xsara estate behind that Cool Blink

Engine looks huge at the mo, but the frame etc is still attached. Gonna lose the PAS and Aircon pump though:

Everything in the garage ready to seperate it all:

I pulled off all of the cooling pipes/loom etc and also kept the pedal box assembly as this may help me solve the relocation of the master cylinder issue:

Another thing I noticed was the top O/S mount was showing fatigue and was pretty badly cracked, similar to the way a 6 mount goes, but this was in a 40k car!

Very interesting conversion, but id definatley go afermarket management, Emerald,DTA,Omex etc.
i wouldnt even consider Megasquirt, most mappers wont touch them with a bargepole due to the DIY aspect of it? Will keep an eye on this. Well done and keep up the good work..

180 reliable standard brake.

180 is a bit hopeful, I'm a member of a 206 forum, most come in at the mid 160's, but an induction and remap can release the extra horses

http://www.gsrengineering.com/engineering/pages/productsbycar/peugeot/206_induction.htm

I've been tempted by this engine conversion, but getting a cheap one was difficult. I'm keen to see how this works out

EDIT: Only read the first page, hope you get a chance to complete this

Yeah, had a few say they only produce about 165, some say you have to have the 1st major service done at pug as they intentionally dont release the power til after this is done. Seen a few higher mileage ones kicking out a healthy 178+ BHP.

its false advertising at the very Least, your buying a car rated at 180bhp , and not getting it, thats shocking!

a bit like Ford , they say there cars make certain power levels , but they measure them at sea level....

I've asked about this in work, the earlier ones were 180bhp but they kept having problems so the later ones were about 165bhp and the 180 just meant the trim level
