306 Track Car build (Project Rat Racer)

Hi there I am new hear so be gentle lol LOL

Story so far

Well this is the first track car I have ever had let alone attempted to build from scratch so its a bit of a learning curve for me so be patient,

The car started life as a Peugeot 306 Style D at some point in time it has had a full GTI6 conversion, Brakes, Suspension, Engine 3rd Gen Front and Rear End and Interior, the car has been fully converted and the DVLA are aware as the previous MOT'S Show it as a 2L Petrol.

A good friend of mines bought it from ecosse they had it as a trade in with a running problem for

Update

Well Done some work on the 306 Striped replaced the Piston Rings striped the head its been skimmed Before so new Head needed or new engine I am not sure what way to go yet some update pics are shown below.

Time To Get My Thinking Cap on.

That's because they are! Still, fit a set of RS pistons and you're away.

Out of interest, why can't the head be skimmed again? I've got one that's been heavily skimmed and it's still fine.

depends how much they've been skimmed, you haven't got much material to remove before you get too close to the valve seats sue to the fairly small combustion chamber, about 0.25mm is the safe limit I think.

First I would like to thank everyone for there replies and second Checked the engine code and its a XU10J will change the pistons to GTI-6 ones as a said be gentle I am new to this lol so how much should I pay for a set of Pistons and also from my first topic does that seam the most logical reason for the car not running.

Head has been checked buy the engine rooms in Motherwell and there is not enough material to get a good flat skim so i will reaplce the head and be on the safe side rather than having to double up on head gaskets.

Best advice that I have been given so far.

The gti6 engine code is xu10j4rs, make sure you have this one

I'd just get a complete new engine and swop the thing over, you will know whats what then and you wont have to f*ck around rebuilding it

Looks like a XSi head too as with the cam carrier's fitted there's no lugs for the coil pack's, The GTi6 has RS Cast/stamped on the end of the head, Also the std gasket is a MLS item and not like the one shown

yes its an xsi lump, how were the coil packs held in? however i have seen dished pistons on RS engines

it wont be far off the power of a standard gti6 if it has the cams manifolds and management.

head does look like a gti6 one, but someone has obviously put some thought into building it as the cam sensor is fitted, the hole isn't drilled and there isn't a bolt hole either on the XS/XSI heads.

Where should I find the engine code for the block and also is there any numbers or code's that i should look for to check the head or the block if so where are they?

The head should have RS cast into the side. Not sure about the block.

doesn't matter much at all if you're going to mod it, set of forged high comp pistons and some cams and you'll be sorted Smile

Update 08/05/09

Well Quick Update The previous Head has had it so to the scrap pile, managed to source a head off of a member on hear thanks Fireman01,

So some more pics or the new head
