Ok.. So the missis is buying me in a sub for my birthday, now I put quite a bit of junk in my boot and I couldnt be having the cone pushed in by the goods in transit. So I had the idea of buying a sub grill. After looking for about 3 seconds and thinking these are all shit, I rang my old man and said "get me some perspex" which he did. I then set about doing what I do and designed myself one.


Here is the design I came up with



Printed out



Cut out and stuck on to the perspex



Then I took a drill and a coping saw to it and began chopping out the unwanted bits...






Next was to drill some pilot holes ready for the bigger hole saw bit to go through.. after testing the bigger bit on a offcut it just ripped the perspex up and cracked it.. so this was the way forward.



Then with the hole saw...



Tidyed it up a little with various shapes of files..



And finally peeled off the drawing. Needs a bit of TLC in places to bring it up to scratch and needs a good polish up, but then again its only to protect my sub cone from being damaged. And best of all it was FREE!!!!



All in all im quite happy with it.. it probably took me a day to make all in all, but its saved me a bit of money and Like the way it looks. Originally I had the idea of finnishing the edges in red but I think ill just leave it the way it is.

The template was drawin in AutoCAD yes..

I do intend to mount it proud of the sub, possibly by a good inch or so, as I said its only to stop things hitting the cone, ill probably get some inch long posts made up and and sandwich a couple of rubber washers in between 2 standard washers to help prevent viabration.
