Hi all,

As shown in my other thread, I bought a couple of top mount kits direct from Peugeot today.
Part No's both the same on each kit (503160)but looking closer, these parts are different Unsure

They both have the same size where it matters but just wondering if someone has one spare to check.

1st part front and rear...

Second part front and rear...

Notice how the second part has more plastic compared to the first one.
Also, the top on one is very flat while the other has a slight ridge.

Not sure if its just a slight design change of if it's for another model.

Reason I ask, is that one of the bags was not fully sealed and wondering if the original has been replaced with a different part.

Any info will be much appreciated guys Smile

I bought a set a couple of days ago from peugeot and they are just like yours, same part no's on the bags but are slightly different to each other as it shows in your pics.

Both bags were sealed.

Ah good, at least both designs are for the right model then Smile
I guess these had a slight redesign or another manufacturer at some point.

If they both do the same job, then I will be happy with that.
Dont want to get them fitted and find that 1 gives me problems afterwards Unsure

I called Pug earlier and told them and the guy said the bags were sealed. I told him that one of the bags had a tear as the thrust bearing almost fell out the bag when I walked out their door.
He was adamant that they were sealed which is complete bull as the thrust bearing from the open bag was loose and not in a seperate bag, but the other thrust bearing in the sealed bag was sealed in its own bag within.

Looks like you have one of the ones Andy has and one of the ones I have. Huh?

Nah, haven't driven it yet. My old man is bringing me his battery charger round tomorrow so I can give it a go. Hopefully the battery will be ok but I think it's getting on a bit. Smile

Always wondered who actually took the pic LOL as someone sent it to me. Must have been at the end of one of the pug runs.

If you look in the forsale section, mechanical_repairs has a set of strut tops for sale with the other type of bearings which are different to the ones andy+katie has.

Swings and roundabouts me thinks!

Hey,

Can anyone give me a heads up on fitting new strut top mount bearings? I've not done them before, there's little info about (that ive found) and the haynes manual is limited to no use. Guess I have to compress the coil, Remove, refit, torque and release coil?

Cheers folks

Sorry to resurrect this one but I've just installed the newer style of bearing. And currently the spring seat is sitting like this:

From the look of things there's no way for the spring seat to be located by the bearing, and I can slide it around with a clamp. But it just springs back to that position.
Not sure if it'll sort itself out when in the car?
