Ok, car runs fine, but if I stop it when hot, then try and start it again for anything up to 10-15 mins (say filling up at petrol station) then it has a hard time starting then hunts around the revs for a bit and will die if I press the throttle

ECT sensor, probably thinking the engine is still cold, so adding the cold start map causing it to run too rich etc.

Nice, thanks... now would that explain my other coincidental problem in that my cooling fans don't work?? Unplugging the brown sensor doesn't make the fan go at all... if these problems are possibly related, is there another component that links the 2? What does the bitron unit do for example??

Cheers,
F.

Nope, if the fans don't work when you unplug the brown sensor, the relay or motors will be f*cked.

Green ECT is the one you want to replace IMO.

aha - it was related, but self induced - whilst dicking around with the sensors to sort my fan problem, I didn't re-seat the ECT plug properly - problem fixed.

Thanks for the help.
