My seat seems to be wearing on the door side of the base of the drivers seat. Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the cover to repair it? If so, does the seat need to come out or can it be done in situ?

I think that you can remove the base of the seat (cover and foam) by undoing a few screws from beneath the seat. I would suggest taking the entire seat out to have a look though.

There are also a few wire "hooks" that are used to tension the cover. Once these have all been removed, lift out the base from the seat and peel the material off. I spent an afternoon removing seats and trying to swap the passenger base with the drivers, either the whole base or just the material but they are not identical due to the locations of the fittings to the frame. You can remove the seat covers, i managed to get hold a brand new replacement of ebay for only £15

You will need to remove the seat (which is the easiest part anyway!)

You have to take the base off then around the edge of the seat you can unhook the cover.

There will also be some wire loops (best way i can think of describing them) which attach the seat cover to a wire which is embedded in the foam - these need to be prised open (i used pliers) and then back together again.

Its easy to see what i mean when you start doing it but it is a very fiddly job!

Raising this thread again:

Just changing mine now (broken seat frame).
The base is p1ss easy, but the back is a different matter due to it being a cloth seat and mine being ½ leather/alcantara.

Questions -

1. How do you neatly remove the seat latch (allowing access to the rear of the cabin)

2. The headrest sockets (undoable via pushclips) - are they easy to get to?

OR

to make life easy, is there a way of removing the entire back frame for mounting on a new base?

Dan Big grin

Trying to re-install NEATLY.... Bit difficult (& f'in cold!!)

you can buy them, and a tool for doing them iirc

Hog ring pliers - they have a notch cut out to put the hog ring into.

See the Hawg Ring Lunge for info on reassembling seats (it is a guide for an Audi quattro but the principles remain the same).

And an ebay listing for hog ring pliers including 100 hog rings.

Ah right, cheers Russ, I might still have a go and destroying my own destroyed rallye seat and see how i get on or if i can salvage any of the good bits from it. Some of the material is fine, seems most of the destroying is on the material side? which is daft? Not worth throwing away yet anyway...

Wow, someone with a big heavy @r$e must have slid down that a few thousand times to do that sort of damage.

It's mental eh? The seat that's in there now is also pretty damn worn. No tears but I can feel the braces under my arse on the seat, which is super uncomfy! The bolster foam seems pretty good, which is odd. He must have liked trousers with buttons on them and that tied in with a heavy arse motion into the car will have done the trick. It's some job though to tear BOTH sides of the bolster though eh? In fairness though to these seats...peugeot make comfy seats now but when they made the 306 seats, they didn't design them to be hardwearing did they?! lol.

I have fetched my seat from the lock-up and brought it to the garage at my house for further inspection...rather heavy seats eh! They don't look like much either.
