Hi. Im looking for the central locking control unit in my 99 phase 3. Have tried under back seats and under drivers seat carpet. Any other possibilities? My doors won't stay locked ever since I changed the door handle so want to fool it so that it stays locked. |

Its in the dash under where the hazard light switch is. I have recently done my phase 3. You have to take out the center console, gear stick surround etc. There are 3 torx 20 bits under the center of the dash, thats the unit. Its a fiddly bugger and you will probably need to take out all the stereo etc.BUT if the doors no longer stay locked after swapping the handle, i would say its either the door locking pins not located properly or you have knocked a wire in there somewhere. ________________________________________ ***Breaking*** Ph3 Silver GTI 6 High Boost |

Thanks for that. Cant see any problem with the wires. The handle I replaced was from a phase 1. Maybe the position of where the handle connects to the pushrod is slightly different. I think I might have less of a headache fiddling around with control unit. |

Dont forget that unit doesnt just control the central locking so if you decide to replace it, you will also have to replace the ECU and key chips from the matching car. |
