I never bother trying to remove the damper from the hub on the car, just crack off the hub nut and pull the balljoint out, far easier and quicker, less risk of damaging stuff and leakage of fluids.

I just knock the flat on the jack handle down the back of the hub clamp, perfect fit, whole lot drops off them.

Much easier with my wishbones though, no bushes to fight against LOL

Can you post up a pic of the solid mounts please?

Will take some when I get home tonight. They're Skip Browns ones I believe with a circular rear mount as opposed to a square one.

Related note, how much are your wishbones?

Nice little project mate, just had a read through it all. When's your next track day? I'm hoping to do a brands one this year. Just tb's to buy and my new gearbox with lsd to fit, then I'll be ready.

Got one booked for the 20th August at Brands.

I need to get an LSD at some point but it'll have to wait for a while!

Got the rear beam sorted over the weekend and back on the car with a suitable ride height, looks quite good now! Still got a few bits to do before the track day but getting there slowly.

Had the track car out at Brands for a trackday yesterday. Generally the car performed really well, the new suspension parts made a significant difference to how the car ran. While still quite understeer biased it was much easier to bring the rear round by popping the throttle. Times wise I improved by 5 seconds in comparison to my first session out last year which is absolutely awesome! Came down to a better handling car and more confidence in what I can do with the car.

There was an issue with the brakes that when warm and under light / medium braking the steering wheel wobbled significantly however when under hard braking it was absolutely fine. Initially we thought it might be warped discs but when we had the previous brakes on (406 V6 Brembos) we also had an issue with brake wobble which led us to believe that it could be something else. Not sure what it is at the moment but will be removing the ABS anyway to be sure. Pictures and videos to follow later Smile

They did ok actually. We were only doing short stints (no more than 10 laps) due to the issue with the brake wobble so not sure how they'd cope over a longer time but they were mighty while we were out there, really impressed. Got back in the road car afterwards and nearly overshot a junction as I was so used to the braking power they had!

That looks quiet, private day somewhere?

Need to get mine on track but struggling to find the time to sort it out. Probably wont happen this year.

Just happened that the pictures I chose where of the car by itself, it was a full day at Brands. Something like 60 cars there!

Definitely make time, haven't taken mine out for nearly a year but was so good to drive again. More work needed though, as always!

Well I thought it was ready until two days ago when a forecourt visit revealed incontinence issues with her. Sad

Fairly certain you'll leave me behind, especially with slicks, bodies and an LSD! Any ideas what times you were getting?

Not sure what times I'll try and do it by the videos. Who said I've got bodies? No bodies for me only a slightly higher lift inlet cam but that won't make much difference. The slicks do make a hell of a difference though. My talent runs out far before the slicks do!

Uprated cam, that's what it was. Slicks should help massively, we were driving to the limit of the tyres last time out, was quite frustrating. Hopefully with some decent track tyres we should be able to have a lot more pace.

I checked times on a few laps, obviously not going to be very accurate but... 1.04, 1.01, 1.04, 1.02, 1.00. Don't know if that's good or not? Lol. And some of them there was a bit of traffic. What was your times?

We managed to get down to 1.00 so with slicks I'd think you should be aiming for at least 58s I know Dennis (russian guy) was at Brands a few weeks ago and managed 57s on slicks.

yeah, my best was 1.00, but I think I could get to 58 with a bit more practice. I need some decent suspension up front, that's my main downfall and I could do with 1 degree more negative camber on the front and rear camber. But its getting there, slow project. You doing a track day next month?

58s should definitely be achievable. What suspension do you have up front at the moment?

No point doing a trackday next month, we've already got the most out of the car so wouldn't really gain anything. Probably won't be out again until March. Just putting together a list of things that need to get done before I next go out.

Got cheap coilovers with 400lb springs. So need some decent coilovers that are built for the harder springs. What else have you got to buy?
